Pensions auto-enrolment

Employer workplace pension duties require that all eligible workers are automatically enrolled into a pension scheme that meets certain minimum requirements.

Orb’s auto-enrolment service helps you:

  • ensure your scheme qualifies
  • meet the strict worker communication requirements
  • carry out your worker assessment - both at your staging date and ongoing
  • manage administration and record keeping - using either your pension provider’s system or our own auto-enrolment portal

Auto enrolment is in the process of being introduced for all UK employers over the period to 2018. The date you need to meet this duty - your staging date - depends on the size of your payroll on 1 April 2012. You can find out yours by using the staging date calculator on the Pensions Regulator’s website.

Preparing for auto-enrolment can be complicated and time-consuming - the Regulator suggests you allow at least 18 months for this process. You may need to:

  • understand the financial impact of increased pension costs on your business
  • make changes to your existing pension scheme or implement a new one
  • introduce new payroll and pension administration procedures or systems
